ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Adam Wayne Hooper, 44, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away Monday morning, April 17, 2017. Adam was born in Oklahoma City to Mary Kay and John David "Benny" Hooper on February 6, 1973. He spent his youth in Oklahoma City where he loved anything sports. Adam graduated from Mount Saint Mary's High School in 1991. Adam attended Northern Oklahoma College at Tonkawa, graduating in 1993 with an Associates of Arts Degree in Broadcasting. Alva became his next home, where Adam graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1995 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Mass Communications/Public Relations. Adam remained in Alva to pursue his radio career at KALV Radio. During his time there, he served as News and Program Director. He also was a P.A. Announcer for the Alva Renegades American Legion Baseball AA and AAA teams from 1996-2005. Adam moved to Bartlesville in the summer of 2005 as assistant sports director and assistant news director at KWON KYFM KRIG KPGM. He won statewide sports awards through the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters and last year was recognized by the Examiner Enterprise as Readers' Choice "Radio Personality." He considered his broadcast of national championship games for Oklahoma Wesleyan University and state playoff games for the high school teams he followed as highlights of his career. He was the voice of American Legion baseball both in Bartlesville for much of his twelve years here and in Alva for nine seasons. He loved sports, specifically high school and small college athletics. He was proud to be the Voice of the Nowata Ironmen, Dewey Bulldoggers and Oklahoma Wesleyan University teams, as well as give air time and recognition to other area schools on his daily sportscasts and Coaches Corners. Adam enjoyed swimming evenings when he didn't have a game at the YMCA. Weekends, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with friends at Nowata Country Club. He loved spending time with family, going to the lake and taking cruises. Adam attended St. James Catholic Church and served as a lector, usher and Eucharistic minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus-Bartlesville Council, serving as past Grand Knight. Adam was also a huge fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma City Thunder. His classic and enthusiastic closing line to his sports broadcasts is so appropriate for this time: "Good Night Nowata" "Good Night Dewey", until we all meet again. Adam is survived by his father, John David "Benny" Hooper and step-mom, Gayle; uncle Bryan Hooper and his wife, Sharon; aunt Mary Pauline Hooper; uncle Cliff Peden and wife, Teresa; cousins, Wade Peden and Amber Pankey and husband, Blake, and beloved twins, Cooper and Camden, as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and sports fans.
