Adelle Faye (Amos) Davis was born February 20, 1926 in Baxter Springs, Kansas, and passed to her heavenly home on May 3, 2013 with her family by her side. Adelle married Paul C. Davis on April 16, 1946 in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, her parents, Lester and Faye Amos, and her brother, Leonard Amos. A long-time Bluejacket resident, she was an active member of the Bluejacket Baptist Church serving as church clerk, Sunday School teacher, WMU Director and faithfully printed the church bulletin for many years. Her later years were spent in Vinita and she moved her church membership to Vinita First Baptist and enjoyed worshiping with her Christian friends. Adelle was a teachers' aid and school secretary at Bluejacket School many years and enjoyed assisting the many children through both grade school and high school - especially several of her grandchildren. She developed many friends and truly enjoyed the teachers, employees and children and delighted in following the various activities. She attended the Retired Educators meetings and maintained those friendships until her health no longer allowed those outings. An avid letter writer, Adelle was known for sending birthday cards to all family and friends and individually written Christmas letter each year. Another hobby was quilting and stitching and she presented each of her children and grandchildren with a hand stitched quilt when they married; and at each descendant's birth she hand stitched a wall hanging with all the vital birth statistics. Her most joyous times were when she was surrounded by family and was able to take pictures of those she loved. She is survived by her six children: Raymond and Pat of Downsville, LA; Ruby and Ralph of Wichita, KS; Wade and Sharon of Bluejacket, Paul and Karen of Cleveland, OK; Curtis and Velma of Sand Springs; and Lester and Robin of St. Criox, Virgin Islands. She was the beloved Grandmother to 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and loved her numerous nieces and nephews and counted everyone she met in her host of friends. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Bluejacket Baptist Church with Henry Skip McLain officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Bluejacket Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com
