Albert Alfred Gottsponer Albert Alfred Gottsponer, age 97, a resident of Vinita, OK died early Saturday morning, November 8, 2008 at Craig General Hospital in Vinita. He was born February 18, 1911 in St. Vincent, Arkansas the son of Adolph Gottsponer and Elizabeth Zimmerman Gottsponer. He was the second oldest of 4 boys and 4 girls. He was reared and received his education in St. Vincent. On October 24, 1934 he and Josephine Nagle were united in marriage in St. Elizabeth, AR where they made their home until 1948 and had their four children. Albert farmed several acres of land raising mostly cotton and peanuts. In 1948 they moved to Lakin, KS, where he was manager/operator of a 6,000 acre wheat farm. After a visit with his uncle in Vinita and learning about available farm land he moved his family to Vinita in January of 1952 where he eventually was farming about 800 acres, operating a dairy, and raising stock cattle. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He retired in 1990 when he and Jo moved into town. He continued to be active going fishing, planting and tending vegetables and flowers with Jo and spending time with family and friends. Al and Jo celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary of October 24 while he was a patient in Craig General Hospital with family and hospital staff. He was a good man, liked and respected by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed Albert leaves behind his wife Josephine of the home, two sons, Harold Gottsponer of Vinita and Edward and wife Doris Gottsponer of Vinita, a daughter and son in law Anna and Richard Greenwalt of Tulsa, OK, one sister, Mary Lou Lee of Arlington, VA sixteen grandchildren and 18 great and 12 great-great grand children. He was preceded in death by a daughter Rita Hoyt, three sisters and three brothers and two grandsons. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday November 12, 2008 in the Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 10:00 a. m. with The Rev. Alex Kennedy, interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. A Rosary service will be Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Luginbuel Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in Albert's name to the American Heart Association Oklahoma Affiliate, Inc. 3545 NW 58th.
