ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Albert Mesa Servin, age 98, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, surrounded by family. Beloved Father and Grandfather was born January 13, 1918 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He attended Bartlesville's public schools, was a member of the National Honor Society, volunteered for the Bartlesville Little Theatre Guild, and graduated from Central High School in 1939. While in High School, he also worked as a golf caddy for the Hillcrest Country Club. Al married Isabel (Liz) Ramos on September 3, 1940. They were married for 75 years. His only daughter, Rose Marie (Rosie), was born in 1941. He then went on to attend Coffeyville Junior College. In 1943 he began his electrical career with Stoval Construction and worked throughout West Texas and Oklahoma returning to Bartlesville in 1947. Public Service Company of Oklahoma employed Al from 1947 until his retirement in 1980. While at PSO, he was a part of installing power at Woolaroc, Price Tower and the Northeast Region of Oklahoma. Albert was baptized at St. John's Church and was a life-long member. He loved St. John's and St. John's School. Early on, he participated in the building of the current St. John's Church and devoted much of his time to the church for anything and everything. He was recognized with the School Library being named in his honor. He also participated in the building of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Dewey from laying the foundation to the electrical work. He spent his retirement volunteering for the church, school and many organizations. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and helped begin the tradition of the Lenten Fish Fry and pancake breakfast at St. John's. He was member of the Lion's Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award from the Lion's Club International Foundation. He volunteered many years for Mary Martha, was a member of the Moose Lodge and a founding member of the Moose Lodge Clown Unit performing as "Dusty The Hobo". He was also a member of the Elks Lodge of Pawhuska, as well as a part of the "Free Wheel '89" bicycle tour of Northeastern Oklahoma and a member of the Heel Poppers Square Dance Club, His hobbies included woodworking, swimming and fishing. He was a regular morning customer at Weezies where he had many great conversations with his buddies. Many generations of St. John's students have their name carved out of wood and/or birdhouses compliments of Albert. Al had a favorite saying that he lived by which went something like this, "Don't wait to be asked to do something; just do it." Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Francisca Mesa and Angel Servin, Godparents, Altagracia & Arnulfo Rodriguez, sister, Norberta Servin, half sister, Irene Servin Deshazo Wooster, adopted brother, Felix Rodriguez and Albert's wife, Isabel (Liz) Servin. Albert is survived by one daughter, Rose Marie Servin Mendoza; five granddaughters, Bernadette Barefoot (Mat), Monica Hernandez (Danny), Angela Fabacher (Kirk), Hillary Vozza (Mario) and Becky Mendoza Tate (Bryon); eight grandchildren, Katie Martinez (David), Olivia, Lily and Blaise Fabacher, Isabella, Rosemary, Gianna, and Corrine Vozza, and great-great granddaughter, Emilia Martinez. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00 PM-8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9:00 AM-6:30 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Family will be present to greet friends on Wednesday prior to the Rosary from 4:00-6:30 PM. The Rosary will be said on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home. Deacon Joe Richard will lead the Rosary. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM in St. John Before the Latin Gate Catholic Church, Bartlesville. Father Michael Pratt will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow the service in White Rose Cemetery.
