Albert Whinery

Albert L. Whinery, age 77, a resident of Bartlesville died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Heritage Villa Nursing Center in Bartlesville. He was born October 1, 1929 in Bixby, OK. At the age of five the family moved to Barnsdall where he was reared and received his formal education and graduated from high school. He served in the Army Air Force during WW11 and returned to Barnsdall upon his discharge. He and Patsy Horsley were united in Marriage on February 12, 1949 in Bartlesville and made their home in Barnsdall. Mr. Whinery retired from the maintenance department of the Bartlesville Public School system. He was a member of the Revival Time Outreach Center and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and garage sales, collecting coins, Avon bottles and miniature cars. Mr. Whinery leaves behind his wife of 58 years; Patsy of the home; six brothers Orville Whinery of Pampa, TX, Paul Whinery of Barnsdall, Gene Whinery of Pawhuska, Bill Whinery of Bartlesville, Bobby Whinery of Avant and Thurman Whinery of Dewey, a son in law Lanny Edwards, three grand children and their wives, James Lee and Susie Hansen, Robin Noel and Janice Hansen and Chance Warren and Brenda Hansen, eight great grand children Jimmy, Stephanie, Jeremy, Byron, Andrewe, Hunter, Burnie and Jeffery, one great great granddaughter Jade, and two sisters Roseanne Scarboro and Della Mae Cole. Mr. Whinery is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Shirley Edwards and three sisters Alice, Leathe and Paulene. Memorials have been established in Mr. Whinery's name to the Cornerstone Hospice Foundation. Those who would like to make a donation may do so in care of their office at 3414 S.E. Graveside Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday May 29, 2007 at Ethel Reece Cemetery in Barnsdall with Chaplin Roger Sheppard officiating under the direction of the Neekamp -Luginbuel Funeral home.
