Alene Hicks

Alene Frances Hicks 84, of Bartlesville passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center. Funeral services for Ms. Hicks are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Benjamin Funeral Chapel in Nowata. Visitation will be held at the Benjamin Funeral Home on Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 8am until 5pm and Sunday March 29, 2009 from 8am until 5pm. Online condolences may be left for the Hicks family at www.honoringmemories.com. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Martin Cemetery, 105 N. Maple, Vinita, OK 74031. Alene was born on October 7, 1924 in Ranger, Texas to Alfred Frank and Lugie (Holland) Hicks. She received her education from a Portland, Oregon Catholic School. Alene attended college where she graduated with her degree and began her career as an accountant. She loved to travel visiting several countries around the world. She enjoyed watching football so much that she visited the Football Hall Of Fame, where she could name everyone honored and their accomplishments. Alene was very active in the Methodist Church and their women's group; she never missed an opportunity to get together with the ladies to play cards or various other games. She enjoyed watching soccer and even traveled as far as Canada to watch a game. Alene is survived by 2 cousins John Ann Dunbar and Jess Townsman. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Lugie Hicks.
