Alice Jane Pickett, 93 longtime area resident, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Medicalodge of Dewey. Graveside services for Mrs. Pickett will be held at 2:00p.m., Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Silver Lake Cemetery with Rev. Chris Tiger officiating. On-line condolences can be left for the family at www.honoringmemories.com. Services have been entrusted to the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Bartlesville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Carter Hospice. Alice Jane Pickett was born June 7, 1916 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Joseph Lucas and Emma (Wilson) Lucas. She was raised and educated in the Bartlesville area and attended school at the Chilocco Indian School. Alice married Alfred Leonard Picket in February of 1933 in Ponca City, Ok. They made their home in Bartlesville. During World War II they made their home in San Francisco, Ca were Alfred worked in the shipyards furthering the war effort. After the war they moved back to Bartlesville and lived in the home Alfred had built. Alice worked for several years as a nurse aide at the Jane Phillips Hospital. Alfred preceded her in death in 2000. Alice was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church. She was proud of her Delaware Indian heritage. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. Mrs. Pickett is survived by her daughter Emma Jane White and her husband Roger of Collinsville, Ok, grandchildren Jolene Schmidt and her husband Glen of Wyandotte, Ok, Jane Daugherty of Bella vista, Ar, Mark White and his wife Margo of Kansas City, Mo, Marilyn Cole and her husband Rick of Bartlesville, Seth Pickett of Denver, Colorado, Joel Pickett and his wife Barbara of Murdock, Ks and Martha and her husband Nick Benoit of Cheney, Ks, several Great Grandchildren who she loved dearly and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Alfred Leonard Pickett, one son Alfred J. Pickett, her parents, three brothers and one sister.
