Alice Ramona Tennison was born on August 31, 1937 in Bartlesville. She was the daughter of Jose Cardenas and Gertrude (Gamino) Cardenas. She grew up in Bartlesville where she attended St. John Parochial School and graduated from College High School in 1955. After graduation, she furthered her education in secretarial studies.
Alice and Sterling “Slim” Tennison were united in marriage at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bartlesville on October 8, 1966. They made their home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where their daughter, Kristin was born in December 1968. Alice and Slim were very supportive of Kristin’s years of playing sports and her higher education. Alice was employed at Phillips Petroleum Company and worked as a secretary in various departments, retiring after forty years as an executive secretary.
Alice was a devout member of St. James Catholic Church where she volunteered and participated in her Santeras women’s group. She also volunteered at Mary Martha Outreach Center and enjoyed attending class and performing with her line dance group through the 55+ Activity Center. It made her happy to share her love of line dancing with her granddaughters, and cheer on her grandson at various sporting events. She felt very blessed by her family, and her greatest joy was being a mom and grandma.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Kristin Conkling and her husband, Brandon, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Chase, Lauren, and Natalie Conkling of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Nancy Love of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Also, survived by many nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling “Slim” Tennison; parents, Jose and Gertrude Cardenas; brother, Alfred Cardenas; and sisters, Rachel Cardenas, Dolores Holsten, Margaret Tarr, and Mary Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Alice’s memory be given to Clarehouse Hospice Home, 7617 S. Mingo Rd, Tulsa, OK 74133.
