Allie Dee Reich, a long time Nowata resident, passed away at 9:00am Sunday June 8th at Sterling House Assisted Living in Tulsa where she has been near her family for the last eight years. Born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 1908, Allie Reich was a true Native Oklahoman. As a child, her mother Genevra Correll, was in the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889. Mrs Reich graduated from Skiatook High school and attended Stephens College. Proud of her Cherokee heritage, and a life long Democrat, she participated in Cherokee politics and worked on the Democratic Campaigns of John F. Kennedy and later, Mike Synar. In 1941 she married Wendell Reich who was whisked off to war in 1942. She and her daughter Gillian, along with her sister and mother took care of the home front until his return in 1945. Preceding Mrs. Reich were her Husband Wendell Paul Reich (1978) and her Daughter Gillian Louise Rockwell (2008). Surviving Mrs. Reich are her four grandchildren, Mark Egermeier, Cathy Barnes, Mike Egermeier and Cindy Zeimet, her great grandchildren Jason Horn, Rebecca and Joya Meek, Tyler and Kendrah Egermeier, Stephanie Mooney, and finally her great-great-grandchildren, Mason and Noble Egermeier.
