Alma Toms

Alma Elizabeth (Guinn) Toms, age 85, died Thursday August 19, 2010 in Grove, Oklahoma. She was born in Carlisle, PA in 1924. She graduated from Carlisle High School in 1942 and from Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing in Harrisburg, PA in 1945 where she was a Cadet Nurse. She entered the U.S. Army Nurse Corp in 1947 and resigned her commission in 1950. While in the Army, she was stationed in Korea and Japan. Alma was married to James W. Toms on March 4, 1950. She was retired from the Civil Service where she worked as a nurse at Reynolds Army Hospital at Ft. Sill, OK from 1968 to 1984. She is survived by two sons, James and Timothy, and two daughters, Toma and Tere. She also has five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A family service will be held at 1:00 PM on September 4, 2010 in Lawton at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery. Cremation Arrangements were entrusted to Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.
