Alta Lee (James) Ridenour, 81 year old Chelsea resident, died late Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Craig General Hospital in Vinita. She was born March 24, 1932 in Talequah, Oklahoma to Jesse and Dora (Thomas) James. Alta married Louis J. (Tooter) Ridenour on October 2, 1948, he preceded her in death. They lived in the Chelsea/Winganon area for many years. Alta was very active in the Chelsea Senior Center, volunteering as a cook, and serving on many committees. She had also worked at the Winganon store as a cook for a few years. The family includes: her children; Louis J. Ridenour, Jr. and wife Lora of Chelsea, Debra Holt and husband Ronnie of Flower Mound, Texas, Mary Ann Roush of Vinita, Connie Holmes of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Melvin James and wife Pam of Oklahoma City, Lewis James and wife Elaine of Pampa, Texas; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death, were her parents, husband, four brothers and four sisters. The funeral will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Luginbuel Chapel in Vinita, with Dr. Henry Haynes officiating. Interment will follow at the Chelsea Cemetery, in Chelsea Oklahoma. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Luginbuel in Vinita. The family will be receiving visitors on Monday following the burial till 4 p.m. at the Chelsea Civic Center, 618 Pine Street in Chelsea. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
