Anita Hughes-Cowgill

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma 918-253-3222.........Anita Louise (Wilson) Hughes-Cowgill, 79, after an illness, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 15, 2015 in Grove, Oklahoma. Anita was the loving daughter of Bob and Louise (Oodeleda) Wilson. She was born on January 6, 1936 in Delaware County, Oklahoma. Anita was a graduate of Jay High School. She was united in marriage to Bob Hughes on June 1, 1953. Anita worked and retired as the Court Reporter for Delaware County. During her career it was published that "she had heard things that made her want to cry, but she didn't; she had heard things that made her want to scream, she didn't, she had heard things that made her want to laugh, but she didn't and she had heard things that made her want to duck….. and she didn't". There wasn't too much she hadn't heard, written or transcribed. She knew more than she wanted to know about the depths of human behavior, she handled it and learned long ago to leave it at the office and to say her prayers. After Bob's passing, Anita found love again and was married to Gene Cowgill. Anita was an avid reader; she loved to garden, and enjoyed traveling. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, and both her husbands. She is survived by her son Clifford Hughes and his wife Tonya of Miami, Oklahoma, her daughter Carla Summerfield and her husband Elton of Jay, Oklahoma. Anita was blessed with four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8PM Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, August 20, 2015, both at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Oklahoma. Anita will be laid to rest in Duffield Cemetery.
