Graveside services for Anna Mae Cooper are 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at MT. Washington Cemetery in Lenapah, Oklahoma with Terry Cooper officiating. A family visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Benjamin Funeral Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. Anna Mae Cooper, 78, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the McPherson Hospital in McPherson, Kansas. She was born on June 13, 1933 in Beaver County Oklahoma to William Thomas and Irma Olive (Clarke) Rutledge. She graduated from Lenapah High School as valedictorian of her class and married Donald Matthew Cooper in Nowata in 1950. Anna Mae worked as a Claims Representative for the Social Security Office for twenty years. She lived in Nowata and Washington Counties most of her life, where she was a member of the Baptist Church. In 1999 Anna Mae moved to McPherson, Kansas where she could be closer to her daughter. There, she became a member of the Free Methodist Church. Anna Mae enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, and attending sporting events. Mrs. Cooper will be missed by all who knew her. Anna Mae is survived by two sons, Phillip Cooper and wife Billie Sue of Katy, Texas, Terry Cooper and wife Carla of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; a daughter, Debbie Hicks and husband Charles of McPherson, Kansas, eight grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, W. T. and Irma Rutledge; her husband, Donald Matthew Cooper; a sister, Juanita Jordan, and a grandson, Matthew Cooper.
