Anna Rae Rachel Thompson, age 101 of Vinita, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 23, 2013. Anna was born on April 13, 1911 in Estella, OK to Russell and Clara (Leforce) Hunt. Anna taught for 35 years at a number of schools before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with family, eating out, reading, and going to social functions. She was one of the ladies responsible for starting the Senior Citizens program in Vinita. She also served as a Cherry Red at Craig General Hospital for several years. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Vinita where she served as Sunday school teacher in her younger years. She had a loving, giving, heart. Survivors include her husband Robert Thompson, daughter Sula Weatherford, daughter-in-law Larue Ramsey, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Russell and Clara Hunt, brother Dwight Hunt, sister Louise Tyler, and children John Thomas Ramsey, Jr., Mary Sue Ramsey, Betty Lou Ramsey and Grandson John Weatherford. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Luginbuel Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 29, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church of Vinita with Pastor Wade Markham officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
