Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Grove, OK (918) 786-2261 --- Annabelle Walker, 100 year old, lifetime area resident, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 in Grove, Oklahoma. Annabelle was born on August 3, 1914 in Jay, Oklahoma to Sam and Dorcas (Fox) Scuggins. She attended Sequoya Indian Boarding School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She went on to Attend Haskell Indian Training school, now known as Haskell Indian Nations University. Annabelle married Hugh A. Walker in June of 1936. After school Annabelle came back to Grove and worked for several different business including eight years at Delaware County Bank. She was then employed by Cory Smith Chevrolet as a business manager / accountant for over twenty-four years. Annabelle was the founding member, and president of the Tsa-La-Gi Women's Club. She served in the club from its founding in the 1980's until she was unable to carry out the duties of the position. Even after she stepped down she gave lectures and did programs on Cherokee History. Annabelle was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Grove, Oklahoma. She was also a member of the W.M.U. at First Baptist Church, as well as a member of Business Professional Women. Annabelle was preceded in death by her husband Hugh A. Walker, four sisters Elizabeth Nelson, Lucinda Wilson, Ruby Nelson, and Anita Petty, and a brother, Taft "Chief" Scuggins. Annabelle is survived by a daughter, Betty Belkham of Grove, OK, formerly of Flandreau, SD, four grandsons, Jeff Belkham and wife Brenda of Pierre, SD, Joe Belkham and wife Tracy of Durant, OK, Larry Belkham and wife Laurie of El Paso Texas, and Gary Belkham of Grove, OK, one great great grandchild and a host of nieces nephews and other family members. Funeral services for Annabelle will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Grove, OK. Interment will follow at Butler Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK.
