Anne Caldwell Rawlins, age 93, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died at 5:30 AM on Monday, August 18, 2014. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with Rev. Dr. T. Lee Stephens officiating and Father Robert Gates, assisting. Visitation will be on Thursday and Friday, 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM and Saturday from 8-9:00 AM in the Arnold Moore and Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave, Bartlesville, Ok. Casket bearers will be Stephen Colaw, Steve Martin, Hugh M. Barton, III, Russell Caldwell Ramzel, Adam Walthall and Bob Farmer. Honorary casket bearers will be Charles Martin, Sr., Lloyd "Ace" Gardner and Cliff Sousa. Anne was born in Bartlesville on September 11, 1920 to the union of Carolyn Matilda Bryner and Caryl H. Caldwell. She attended Bartlesville public schools, graduating in 1938. She attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri for one year and then transferred to the University of Oklahoma in Norman. During her time at OU, she pledged Delta Gamma Sorority, for which she served as chapter president. She graduated in 1942 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Letters. Anne returned to Bartlesville and worked for Phillips Petroleum Company as a secretary in the Engineering Department of the Defense plant. During this time, she also volunteered with the American Red Cross, being trained in triage and folding bandages for wounded soldiers. She and Carl "Doc" Elbert Rawlins were married at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Bartlesville on November 18, 1944. Wedding gifts included gas coupons, as it was being rationed because of WWII. They were transferred with Carl's employment with Phillips to Borger, Texas, where their first son, Richard (Dick) Caldwell Rawlins, was born. They were transferred back to Bartlesville in 1948. They had three more children, born in Bartlesville, John (Jack) Carl, Mary and Michael Crist. Anne took turns being homeroom mother and scout leader for her children. Her kids and grandkids will always remember her cookie jar filled with mouth-watering chocolate chip cookies. Anne was very active in many organizations. She was one of the early members of Service League and served as president. She served as national treasurer for the alumni association of Delta Gamma. She served St. Luke's as a vestry member and directress of the Altar Guild. She was fondly called "Mother Superior" and made several unexpected appearances in a full nun's habit! Anne loved to play golf and served as president of the Women's Golf Association at Hillcrest Country Club. She won several putting trophies. She volunteered with Special Education students at Garfield, where the Bartlesville Community Center now stands. She was also a charter member of the Bartlesville Symphony Society and the Friends of Frank Phillips Home. During her later years, she served on the Pastoral Care team of Jane Phillips hospital. Anne loved to play bridge, be it party bridge, or competitive duplicate bridge. She earned the level of Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League in 2009 at age 89. She was preceded in death by her husband; son Richard(Dick)Caldwell Rawlins; brother, John (Bud) Caryl Caldwell; and her parents. She is survived by three children: Jack and his wife, Pam, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Mary and her husband, Bruce Ramzel, of Bartlesville, and Mike and Diana Sue of Richardson, Texas. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Mrs. Richard (Diana Gail) Rawlins of Corsicana, Texas, and one cousin, Sara Margaret Gibney Messall of Bartlesville. She leaves four grandchildren: Wendy and her husband, Steve Tipton, of Jacksonville, Florida; Annot Caryl and her husband, Adam Walthall, of Corsicana, Texas; Russell Caldwell Ramzel and his fiancé, Michelle Gleghorn, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Heidi Anne Ramzel of Manhattan, Kansas. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Ashleigh, Nathan, Andrew and Angel Tipton; Aria Lizabeth Martin and Abigail Olivia Walthall.
