Anne Thomas

Anne Harp was born on October 18, 1937 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was the daughter of James Cargill Harp and Dorothy Louise Storey. She received her education in the Shreveport, Louisiana area, where she graduated with the C. E. Byrd High School graduating class of 1955. She furthered her education by attending Centenary College also in Shreveport, receiving her bachelor's degree in Education. On June 6, 1959, Anne and Horace Thomas were united in marriage in Shreveport. They came to Bartlesville in July of 1973. She spent many (20+) years in the class room at Hoover Elementary in Bartlesville. She was a very dedicated and wonderful teacher during her career. Anne retired in 1993 and she and Horace have continued their home in Bartlesville. Anne was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville (now the Bartlesville First Church). She was also a member of the PEO Women's Organization, and Walk to Emmaus at the Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, tatting, knitting and crocheting, as well as working in her yard and camping and traveling. She will be missed by all her family and many, many friends and acquaintances. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made the Bartlesville First Church Building Fund. Survivors include her husband, Horace, of the family home; son, H. Justin Thomas and his wife, Sherry, of Bartlesville; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Thomas, Logan Thomas and Emma Thomas; sister, Mattie Gorman and her husband, Charles, Sr., of West Monroe, Louisiana, and their children, Anne Louise Bonnette and Charles Gorman, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Belinda Anne Thomas (deceased February '95).
