Arch R. Saylor, Jr., former Bartlesville resident, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, in the Norman, Oklahoma Veterans Center. Arch Rush "Art" Saylor, Jr., was born September 3, 1928 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was the youngest son of Arch Rush Saylor, Sr., and Jacqueline Lorene Gibson Saylor. Art was reared and received his education in Bartlesville. As most young men of this era, he joined the United States Army in 1945. He was sent to the European theater where he gladly served his Country during World War II. Art returned stateside and fell in love with his childhood friend, Millie Jane Adams. They were married December 31, 1948 in Bartlesville. Art was stationed in Yuma, Arizona where he and Jane lived until he was given an honorable discharge from the Army. Art and Jane returned to Dewey, Oklahoma where he began a career with the Bartlesville Police Force. Art enlisted in the Army Reserves where he served until his retirement in 1985. Later he was employed at Phillips Petroleum Company where he worked approximately 40 years before his retirement. Art lost his beloved wife, Jane, in January of 1978. They were married 30 wonderful years. Art later married Jean Hollers and they made their home in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; and brothers, Joe Daniel Saylor and Bill Saylor. Mr. Saylor had two children and they survive him, Ben Edward Silvia and his wife, Ginger, of Norman, Oklahoma and Mary Becky L. Chaney and her husband, Lon, of Copan, Oklahoma. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jackie Jo Adams, Michael Silva and Shelley McClure; and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Saylor were held on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at 10:00 AM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
