Aretha Turner

Aretha Mae "Aunt Reed" Turner, 97 year old resident of Rosewood Terrace, died Saturday, February 9, 2008. She was born January 16, 1911 in Pensacola, Oklahoma to Phillip Albert "Bert" Flock and Dortha "Dollie" (Clemons) Flock. She completed 10th grade at Pensacola, Oklahoma, then graduated from Vinita High School. She spent time in California where she studied nursing. She married Leo Berry in 1946 and together they owned several businesses in Colorado and Oklahoma, He preceded her in death in 1975. Aretha then married Stanley Turner in 1977, he passed away in 1982. She was a very classy lady, and that showed to all who knew her. The family includes; one sister, Gladys Carroll of Bluejacket; numerous nieces and nephews including, June Mayes, Bob Flock, Tom Flock, Tommy Carroll, Phil Carroll, Gary Carroll, Mike Carroll, Aretha Chandler, and Norita Walker; also numerous great nieces and nephews. Others who preceded her in death were; three brothers, Thomas S. Flock, Herbert Albert "Bill" Flock, and Claude Flock; two sisters, Cora Macon and Dora Skillman; four nephews, including one special nephew, Billy H. Flock and three nieces. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Otterbein Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Bradford officiating. Interment will follow at the Military Cemetery.
