Arley C. "Bud" Worthington, age 89, died on January 2, 2011 at his residence in Newton, Kansas. Bud was born on January 12, 1921 in Towanda, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Hazel Barksdale on November 23, 1941. Arley was a WWII veteran; he served with the fifth Air force B 24 Bombers and flew out of Darwin N. Australia, Broom W. Australia, and New Guinea. He flew forty-two missions. He was part of the Founders of Baptist Bible Fellowship and Baptist Bible College in 1950. Arley was ordained into the ministry in 1951 in Wichita Baptist Tabernacle. Bud graduated from Baptist Bible College in 1952. He pastured Temple Baptist Church in Marshfield, Missouri, Grace Baptist Church in Salina, Kansas. He founded the Village East Baptist Church in Aurora, Colorado and the Memorial Baptist Church in Denver Colorado. Arley retired from construction and pastoring in 1982; then moved to Grove, Oklahoma. Arley was the pastor for the Independent Baptist Church in Grove Oklahoma from 1983 until 1987. Bud was the father of three children who all preceded him in death Gerald Worthington, Clifford Worthington and Julene Hare. Bud's wife Hazel Worthington survives of the home, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren also survive Bud. An open viewing will be held from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM, on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 6, 2011 with services starting at 1:00 p.m., at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel.
