Benjamin Funeral Service - Nowata, Oklahoma.......................................... Ava Marie Parks passed away at her home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma Sunday May 22, 2016. She was born February 23, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to James Leonard and Bettie Jane (Burgess) Koonce. She moved to California when she was nine years old on to Lanty, Arkansas in 1945 where she finished High School. Ava moved on to Washington D.C. where she started working for the FBI. She lived in several states before settling in Bartlesville in 1993. On September 14, 1990 she married Earl Dean Parks. Ava liked to quilt and crochet. She loved reading and read as much as she could. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding Mrs. Parks in death are her parents, James and Bettie Koonce and siblings, Lee Koonce, Wayne Koonce, Louise Chair and Jean Champ. Survivors include a son Doyle Sweat and wife Visia of Bartlesville, five grandchildren, Jessica Malone, Justin Sweat, Lacey Sweat, Ashlyn Sweat, Britney Sweat; two great grandchildren, Lucas and Brealyn Malone; a brother James H. Koonce; many other relatives and a host of friends. Graveside funeral services for Ava Marie Parks will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Nowata, Oklahoma.
