Barbara Alene Akers Barbara "Bobbie" Alene Akers went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 13, 2017, surrounded by her family and friends in her home in Grove, Oklahoma. Bobbie was born on February 27, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri to Clifford and Thelma Adams. Bobbie owned and operated the Eagle Drive-In, located in Joplin, with the love of her life; John Akers. After retiring for the 10th time, Bobbie sold the drive in to her daughter Donna and son in law Terry Hart, but Bobbie couldn't stay at home and returned to help them operate the same drive in. Bobbie was voted the "Best Pie Maker" in Joplin. She loved cooking, baking and spending time with her large family. After the Joplin tornado in 2011, Bobbie just couldn't stay there anymore, so at the age of 77 she picked up and moved to Grove and started over. She convinced her son Steve that she needed to join the Brother's Jewelry Family and became the best mother-son combination of selling jewelry. She was always willing to talk about any and everything, and she could give you a solution to about any situation. Bobby was a volunteer for Good Shepherd Hospice. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Thelma (Brown) Adams, her brother Bill Adams, three husbands; Donald Clifford McMillian in 1954, Robert E. McFall in 1993, and John Akers in 2010. She is survived by her daughter; Donna Hart of Grove, Oklahoma, sons; Robert (Robbie) McFall of Gravette, Arkansas, Steve McFall of Grove, Oklahoma, daughter Regina Gibson of Haileyville, Oklahoma. Bobbie was blessed with sixteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. There were many children throughout Bobby's life that she considered them all her own. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:30 - 7:30 pm, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Grove-Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Grace Harbor Church in Grove, Oklahoma with Pastor Marty Hughes officiating. Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Osborne Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri. Honoring Bobby's life serving as casket bearers will be Josh McFall, Cliff Christian, Daniel Hart, Chad Stevenson, Jeffery Gibson and Brad Hemphill, honorary casket bearers will be her great grandchildren.
