Barbara Ann Mickelson, 86 year old resident of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2019.

Barbara was born on August 23, 1932 in Duchesne, Utah. She was the loving daughter of John LeRoy and Retta Margaret (Heath) Pilling. Barbara graduated from Duchesne High School and received a scholarship to Utah State University where she majored in Secretarial Administration. She was united in marriage to the love of her life James Thomas "Tom" Mickelson in 1949. Barbara started her work career in 1955 at the Meteorology Department at Oklahoma State University, she was the secretary to the Head of Meteorology department and Editor of the Journal of Meteorology. Then she and James started a family; she was a loving and devoted mother of five children. Barbara returned to the work force in 1966, working as an executive secretary in the Oil Industry, including Getting Refining & Marketing and Texaco, Inc., she also worked temporarily as a substitute teacher for Tulsa Area Vo-Tech Schools. Barbara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Tulsa, OK. She once served as the president of the local Ladies Church Auxiliary Group and Counselor (V.P.) for several groups and a teacher for adults and children. Barbara relocated to Grove, Oklahoma in 2012. Barbara and Tom enjoyed the many family outings of camping and boating on the lakes in the Tulsa area. They enjoyed the many friendships they made over the years through work and church.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents John and Retta Pilling; brother, Levi Henry Hunting; brother, John Blain Pilling; sister, Dorothy Hunting Powell; brother Clarence Leon Pilling; husband, James Thomas (Tom) Mickelson; son, Gregory Thomas Mickelson. Survived by; sister, Carolyn Pilling Giles of Hanna, UT; daughter, Ann Kristene Mickelson of St. George, UT; son Calvin C. Mickelson (Theresa), of Grove, OK; son: Bradley E. Mickelson of Grove, OK and son, Rodney L. Mickelson (Heidi) of Muskogee, OK. Barbara was blessed with 10 grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren and on great-great grandchild to come.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Grove Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Services are scheduled for 12p.m on Friday, January 25, 2019 at LDS Church Broken Arrow, OK. Barbara will be laid to rest in the Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK.
