Barbara ‘Diane’ Terry was born September 5th, 1950, to George and Bettie (Snell) Higbee in Tulsa, Oklahoma and passed peacefully on May 26th, 2024. Diane graduated from Dewey High School in 1968 and married David Terry in 1970. They moved to Edmond, OK, where they had daughter Paige and son JD. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family, but she also loved decorating, shopping, crafting, swing dancing, playing bridge, and live music. She was especially fond of Christmas time.
She retired from the state of Oklahoma as the state-wide disaster training coordinator, but she was especially proud of her employment with the Oklahoma Historical Society as Administrative Assistant to the Director, the Native American Cultural and Educational Authority as Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director and being the Assistant Director for Oklahoma’s 75th Diamond Jubilee celebration where her work and skills earned her an award from Governor George Nigh.
Diane is survived by her daughter Paige Chiles, husband James, grandchildren Carson and Addi, son JD Terry, wife Carissa, grandchildren Layla and GG, brothers David Higbee, Geoff Higbee, John Higbee, sisters Linda Mandelbaum, Kim Kenimer, as well as many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Robin Higbee, nephew Chase Kenimer, nephew Scott Higbee, and great-niece Lexie Jo Higbee-Malotte.
We extend our gratitude to Uncle Seaton Artz and Aunt Doris Artz for providing a burial plot for Diane. This generous gesture has given us comfort in knowing she rests in a place surrounded by family and love. We would like to thank the owners and staff of Legacy Senior Living in OKC, as well as Jess with Choice Hospice, for their care, compassion, and empathy.
