Barbara Jean Westfall

Barbara Jean Westfall, 93, of Bartlesville, OK, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, in Bartlesville, OK, at the Bartlesville Health and Rehab Community. She was born on November 13, 1930, in Narcissa, OK, to James Edward Plake and Bertha (Brown) Plake.

Barbara grew up on a farm in the Narcissa area and graduated from Afton High School in 1946. While attending college at Pittsburg State University, Barbara met John Westfall. On June 26, 1949, Barbara married the love of her life, John Benton Westfall, in Pittsburg, KS. She went on to finish her degree in Bartlesville at Wesleyan College. Barbara worked many years as an administrator in several departments at Phillips 66 in Bartlesville, OK. After she retired, she began working at the Voice of the Martyrs. John and Barbara were able to travel more after retirement and would do so every chance that they were able.

Barbara could be described as a compassionate and caring woman. She was a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Throughout the years, Barbara opened her home to hosting Bible Study for members of her church and housed the guest performers of the Bartlesville Civic Ballet, while they were in the area performing. Barbara enjoyed collecting many intriguing items, she enjoyed cooking, and enjoyed spending time with her cat, Piewhackit.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents: James and Bertha Plake and her husband: John Benton Westfall.

Those left to cherish the memory of Barbara include her children: Mark Benton Westfall and wife, Nancy of Afton, OK and her daughter: Barbara “Barbie” Ellen Westfall-Hirst and husband, John of St. Louis, MO, her grandchildren: Ana Hirst and Joseph Hirst; her close friends: Judy and Tom Chamberlain of Bartlesville, OK, and Donna Sanders of Bartlesville, OK, along with other family members and friends.
