Benjamin Adams

Benjamin Samuel Adams, age 84, a resident of Bartlesville died Sunday August 27, 2006 at Jane Phillips Hospital. Mr. Adams was born October 21, 1921 in Pershing, Oklahoma the son of Joseph Adams and Bertha Jackson Adams. He was raised and educated in Pershing, Oklahoma. Sam joined the Navy and served during World War II as a Chief Aviation Machinist Mate on the USS Saratoga aircraft carrier. While in the Navy Sam assisted in the Berlin Blockade Air Lift and was a member of the US Navy Pistol Team. After twenty years of service, he retired and made his home in Florida for a few years before returning to Bartlesville. Benjamin Samuel Adams and Margaret J. (Adams) Adams were united in marriage on August 6, 1983 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He worked for Case tractor and was self-employed for many years before retiring in 1986. Sam was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the James H. Teel American Legion Post #105. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of the home Margaret J. Adams, one son Samuel Adams and his wife Kandy of Pawhuska, Ok; one step son Gene "Bubby" Ainsworth and his wife Kimberly of Pawhuska, Ok; three step daughters Janis Montgomery and her husband John of Bartlesville, Ok, Karen Clements and her husband Roger of Dewey, Ok and Natalie Jo Palmer and her husband David of Kaw City, Ok; four grand children Kami, Kayli and Kaleb Adams of Pawhuska, Ok and Michael Clements of Dewey, Ok; one brother Robert Paul Adams and his wife Judy of Bartlesville, Ok; two sisters Juanita Ellen Gibbs and her husband Frank of Omaha, Nebraska and Evelyn Grace Neal and her husband Harold of Bartlesville, Ok; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Adams is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Adams and Bertha Jackson Adams; three brothers Joseph Herman Adams, Jessie Adams and Alvin Lee Adams; two sisters Bessie Wiggins and Ruth Elizabeth Adams. Funeral services for Benjamin Samuel Adams will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors for Mr. Adams will be provided by the James H. Teel American Legion Post #105 honor guard. Funeral services are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
