Benny Dean Thomason passed from this life at his home surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly on Saturday May 8, 2010. Benny was born on May 30, 1930 the son of Fred D. Thompson and Allie B. (Cordray) Thomason. Benny was married three times and was preceded in death by his second wife Virginia Pollard and third wife Opal Willhite. Known as "Joker" to many, he loved life and making the most of everything. Benny loved animals and always was accompanied by his beloved dog "Princess." Besides his enjoyment of fishing and motorcycles, his day wasn't complete until he enjoyed a slice of his favorite lemon cake. Benny spent much of his life as an over road truck driver, retiring from DP Bonham Trucking. His time serving the community during the early 1970's as a Nowata County Deputy Sheriff best exemplifies his passion for helping people. Benny was very involved with his church, Westside Southern Baptist of Bartlesville, where he served as a Deacon. Benny is survived by his children Sharon Thomason Hagebuch and her husband John of Nowata, Leon Pollard of Bartlesville, Helen Monday and her husband Gene of Ochelata, Shari Taylor and her husband Lloyd of Dewey, Carri Burns and her husband David of Ramona and Danny Pollard and his wife Misty of Bartlesville, one sister Utha Thomason King of Odessa, Tx, Fifteen Grandchildren, Twenty Four Great-Grandchildren and One Great Great-Grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred D. Thompson and Allie B. (Cordray) Thomason, Bothers, Gerald Thomason and Bill Thomason, Sisters Mary Cannaday, Callie Bates, Lucille Oslin, and Lorene Hemphill, and an adored son-in-law, Tommy Grounds. Pallbearers include Traven Pollard, Dayln Pollard, Stacy Viles, Matt St. John, Tommy Grounds, and Drake Hines. Funeral services for Mr. Thomason will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the Westside Southern Baptist Church with Brother David Compston officiating. Burial will follow in the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Benjamin Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
