Bertie Callison, 90-year-old former Nowata resident, passed away on June 6, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada at her home. Mrs. Callison was born September 18, 1917 in Estella, Oklahoma to Amanda Calvert and William Fry. She married Perry Callison on July 18, 1936 in Nowata, Oklahoma. She lived all of her life in the Nowata, Oklahoma area and moved to Las Vegas in March of 2003 to live with her daughter Mary Callison and granddaughter Joanie Randall. Mrs. Callison was a homemaker and later in life worked for James Arnold. Bertie was of the Baptist faith and very active in her church. She loved singing during church services. She also loved attending Adult Day Care of Las Vegas and had done so since 2003. There, she attended arts and crafts classes, enjoyed singing, and playing Bingo. But most of all, she absolutely loved all the caregivers and clients. Mrs. Callison is survived by 3 daughters, Alice Alspach of Delaware, Oklahoma, Mary Callison of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Shirley Roberts of Nowata, Oklahoma; by 2 sons, Johnny Callison of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Perry "Bud" Callison of Nowata; by 9 grandchildren; by 4 great-grandchildren; by 2 great-great grandchildren; by 2 half-sisters, Sarah Killough and Twila McIntyre; and 1 half-brother, William Fry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Callison on July 13, 1989; by 3 sons, Danny, Donnel, and Jackey; by one granddaughter, Phyllis Alspach; by one half-sister, Juanita Redmon; by 1 half-brother, Austin "AD" Fry; by 3 sisters, Saddie Thornbrough, Mary "Fay" Rae, and Mattie Ferguson; and by 2 brothers, Samuel Thomas Fry and Pearl Eugene Fry.
