Betty Evans

Betty Dean Evans, age 83 of Spavinaw, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Betty was born in Frederick, Oklahoma on June 7, 1929 to A. A. and Martha (Roberts) Hefner. She graduated high school from East Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, California. While living in California, she worked for numerous years as a secretary for State Farm. On August 28, 1949 she was united in marriage to Leon Evans and together they raised two children. Betty was a tough, independent, and determined woman but had a strong love for her family, her church family, and most of all, the Lord. She was a servant to others. Even at nearly 80 years old she would volunteer to serve meals at the Senior Citizens of Spavinaw. She loved to cook and try new recipes. She was also an avid reader and a unique gift giver. She always kept herself busy. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spavinaw. Her survivors include her children: daughter Retha Johnson and husband Bill of Pryor, son Charles Evans and wife Barbara of Spavinaw, grandchildren: Jamie Jolly, Amanda Parrish, Matt Johnson, Joshua Evans, great grandchildren: Pierce Jolly, Spencer Parrish, Sadie Parrish, Eli Johnson, and Laney Evans, brother Aubrie Hefner and sister Judy Hays both of Bakersfield, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leon Evans, and brother Kenneth Hefner. Public visitation will be from 1-5 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Spavinaw with Pastor J. D. Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow at Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel South Grand Lake. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com
