Betty Rice

Betty Lou Rice, Grove resident, died Wednesday evening at Grove Integris Hospital at the age of 73 and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She was born on July 10, 1936 in Lawrence, Kansas to her parents Riley B. Fetty Sr. and Gertrude (Frances). Betty was an apartment complex leasing manager for many years prior to moving to Grove seven years ago from Shawnee, Kansas. Betty was very passionate about drawing, painting, gardening, ceramics, and most of all spending time with her family. She also enjoyed trips to the casinos in her spare time. She is preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Tracy Bruce. Betty leaves many loving memories with her family, two sons, Charles Bruce and wife Libby, and Terry Bruce; three daughters, Loretta Howard and husband Glenn, Donna Alt, and Patricia Ambrose; two brothers, Riley B. Fetty Jr. and Chuck Fetty; four sisters, Corlette Sooter and husband Don, Elizabeth Kramer, Fritzy Lilly and husband Curtis, and Velma Small; grandchildren, Alicia Ambrose, Nathan Ambrose, Blair Alt, Lindsey Alt, Travis Alt, Jonathan Bruce, and Kendall Bruce; great grandchildren Kayden Alt and Jaeden Alt; as well as many other loving relatives and friends. A Memorial service celebrating Betty's life will be held in the Kansas City area at a later date. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.
