Betty Shamblin

Betty Shamblin, age 75, a lifetime resident of the Vinita area died Monday March 2, 2009 at Osborn Care Center in Miami. She was born June 14, 1933 in Vinita, OK to O. A. Vogel Sr. and Mattie Christine Wagner Vogel. She was raised and received her formal education graduating from Vinita High School. She and Gordon N. Shamblin were united in marriage on April 30, 1971 in Vinita. She began her working career at Craig County Bank then went to GRDA for the next twenty six years until her retirement. Betty was a member of Cowboy Junction and enjoyed rodeos, keeping up with the PBR, cheering on the Kansas City Royals, collecting dolls and Betty Boop memorabilia, and was very proud of being the 1951 Will Rogers Rodeo Queen. Betty is survived by her husband, Gordon of the home, two daughters, Debbie Lynn Rahaman of Las Vegas, NV, Brenda Best and husband Tim of Vinita, OK, two sons, Tony Minson and wife Terri of McKinney, TX, Gordon Shamblin Jr. of Fort Gibson, OK, eight brothers and sisters, Mildred Minson, Margaret Roberts, Oliver Vogel Jr., Lawrence Vogel, Robert Vogel, Edwin Vogel, Mattie Jenkins and Rosemary Gray, ten grand children, Casey Bennett, Evan Best, Christina Smith, Eliot Best, Joshua Padgett, Heather Padgett, Kelly Shamblin, Emily Best, Alex Douglas and Matthew Minson. Nine great grandchildren, Avery Bennett, Bo Bennett, Ivie Graves, Matthiason Smith, Jordon Smith, Sarah - Lynn Padgett, Carson Best, Ella Best and Miguel Castro. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Louise Taylor, a brother Alfred Vogel and granddaughter Shelby Kay Minson. Funeral services will be held Friday March 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Cowboy Junction with Pastor Wade Markham officiating with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home.
