Betty Jo Vogel, 86 year old longtime Vinita resident, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at the Grandwood Sunrise Village in Grove. She was born December 17, 1925 in Prue, Oklahoma to Olin Richard and Hazel Leona (Gray) Maddux. Betty graduated from Wagoner High School in 1943. She married Alfred Eugene Vogel on November 23, 1960 in Pryor; they made their home in Vinita in 1961. Betty was a secretary in the Department of Human Resources for the State of Oklahoma for many years. She was a member of the First Church of God in Vinita, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Betty was a bridge player and was a member of two bridge clubs. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and needle work. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Alfred Eugene Vogel in 2005. The family includes; her children, Paula McCoy and husband Jimmy of Vinita, Lisa Knipe and husband Richard of McKinney, Texas, Sandy Morrison and husband Dennis of Pittsburg, Kansas, Gary Vogel and wife Betty of Shawnee, Oklahoma; sisters, Juanita Nash of Claremore, Mary Mustain of Parsons, Kansas, and Leona Foreman of Chouteau; a brother, Richard Maddux of Stockton, California; grandchildren, Laura Monroe, Julie Vogel, Becky Morrison, Aaron Vogel, Sarah Vogel, Lauren Knipe and Nathan Knipe and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of God in Vinita, with Pastor Eddie Wrinkle officiating.
