Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555............ Betty Luella Weaver-Ewing, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at her home in Wichita, Kansas, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on December 28, 1929 on her family's farm near Vinita. Betty was the third of eleven children born to Charles Cary and Luella Pearl (Ellsworth) Walker. Betty attended Shanahan School through 8th grade and went to high school at White Oak. She married Jasper Ernest (J.E.) Weaver on July 1, 1947, he preceded her in death on May 3, 1976. From this union, two children were born, Wanda Lou (Weaver) Ledford and John Ernest Weaver. Betty worked as an inspector at the Ammunition Plant in Parsons, Kansas, and later was the office manager for Interstate Vending Company in Wichita. She retired in 1995 after 25 years as a planner for the Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita. Betty married William H. "Bill" Ewing on November 12, 1996, he survives of the home. She was of the Baptist faith, a 35 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and 30 year member of the White Shrine. Betty enjoyed country, bluegrass and gospel music. She loved traveling, camping, being outside gardening and working in her flower beds. Most of all she loved her family and the time she spent with them. Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles and Luella Walker, husband J. E. Weaver, her only son, Johnnie Weaver; a sister Margaret Hayes-Reece; brothers, Charles, Lewis, Leroy, and Ronald Walker; sisters in-law, Ernestine (Weaver) Polk, and Helen Walker; Velma and Howard Weaver; step-son, Harold Wayne Ewing; great-grandson, Grayson Ledford; and two step-great-grandchildren, Katie and Jacob Casley. The family includes: her husband Bill of the home; her daughter, Wanda Ledford and husband Harold; daughter in-law, Ray Weaver; siblings, Alyce Cordray-Greene, Maxine Beisley and husband Willard, all of Vinita; Dorothy Hanna and husband Tom of Cleora, George Walker of Vinita, Don Walker and wife Vernie of White Oak; step-daughter, Terry Casley and husband Rick of Cheney, KS; grandchildren, Ron Ledford and wife Erin of Tulsa, Roger Ledford of Chicago, IL, Jennifer Turner and husband Justin, Jason Weaver and wife Jenn, of Vinita, Shawn and Derrick Casley of Cheney, KS, Jennie O'Neill and husband Zeb of Hutchinson, KS; great-grandchildren, Ashton and Paisley Ledford, Jett Turner, Julie Weaver, Addie and Bo O'Neill, Avery and Maxx Means. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Bunker Hill Baptist Church, with Pastor Skip McClain officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. Casket bearers will be her grandsons, Ron and Roger Ledford, Jason Weaver, Justin Turner, Shawn Casley and Derrick Casley.
