Beverly Taverner

April 20, 1931 — June 4, 2012

Beverly Deen (Brewster) Taverner, 81, wife of C. I. "Sam" Taverner, and mother of Tracy Ann Elm and Kevin Brewster Taverner, passed away while at home. Funeral services for Beverly will be held at 2 pm on Thursday June 7, 2012 at St. John Catholic Church, Father Festus Maliwa officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday at the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral home. The casket will not be open at the church. Committal prayers and interment will be directed in the Memorial Park Cemetery by the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home, in Bartlesville, OK. Casket bearers include grandsons Tyler and Garrett Taverner, Ace Gardner, Hi Staten, Clyde Taverner, and Mike Wagar. Beverly was born April 20, 1931, to Ora K. (Small) and G. A. "Andy" Brewster in Neodesha, KS. She received her elementary and high schooling in Chanute, KS. Beverly attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO for one year then transferred to Kansas State University, studying journalism and Public Relations. Beverly married C. I. Taverner June 1, 1952 and they had two children Tracy and Kevin. Tracy passed away in 2009. Beverly was Public Relations Director for Eastland Center in Bartlesville for 10 years. She left that job to serve in the community. She was a volunteer at Sooner High, helping with Public Relations in the Music Department for 8 years. Beverly was one of the 10 founders of the Bartlesville Symphony Society and served as President for 2 years, and as 1st Vice President - Public Relations for many years. She received their Bev Gardner "Above and Beyond" award in 1993. She also served on the Bartlesville Symphony Board as Public Relations Vice President for 14 years. Beverly is survived by her husband Sam, and son Kevin. Also surviving are grandchildren Katy and Bryan Elm; Christine, Tyler, and Garrett Taverner; and son-in-law Kevin Elm. Preceding her in death are her mother and father; sister Myrna Hershberger; and daughter Tracy. Memorials may be made to St. John School, 8th and South Keeler, Bartlesville, 74003; the Bartlesville Symphony, or charity of your choice.
