Bill Gene Rule, 81, longtime Bartlesville resident, passed away at 6:00 PM July 10 after an amazing 24 year battle with prostate cancer. - He finished well. Bill was born July 12, 1928 in Renfrow Oklahoma to Floyd and Elsie (Squire) Rule. He attended school in Renfrow and Medford Oklahoma and college at Oklahoma State University. Bill entered the Air Force in 1950 receiving his basic training at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, Tx followed by three years duty at Albrook Air Force base in Panama City, Panama. He was then transferred to Luke Air Force base in Glendale, Az and there received his honorable discharge in September 1954. Bill was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville from 1956 to 1984 and then in Denver Colorado until his retirement in 1986. He was a life member of the National Bit, Spur and Saddle Association, a volunteer at Woolaroc Museum and a member of Grace Community Church. He spent many happy years pursuing his hobby of collecting western memorabilia Private interment will be held at 10:00 AM July 13 at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Neekamp - Luginbuel Funeral Home followed by an 11:00 Memorial service at Grace Community Church with Dr. Rod MacIlvaine and Dr. John Snook officiating. Visitation is at Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home with family present on July 12 from 5:30 until 8:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Comforting Hands Hospice, 2232 S E Washington Blvd. Suite 205 or Bartlesville Warriors for Christ, 4001 Wisconsin Street in Bartlesville. Survivors include his wife, Melinda of the home; four sons, Chris Rule of San Diego, Ca, Rick Rule of Bartlesville, Derek Atkins and his wife Lai Kein of Xian, China and Chad Atkins and his wife Angie of Plano, Tx; six grandchildren; one sister Mildred Marshall of Bartlesville; numerous nieces and nephews and many, many wonderful friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister Olive Frieouf.
