After a brief illness Bill Strange passed away on Saturday May 4th in Grove, Oklahoma. He was born September 20, 1928 in Shaw, Kansas to Everett and Gertrude Strange. After high school Bill served his country in the US Navy from 1946 -48. He returned to Kansas to marry his childhood sweetheart, Reva E. Stanley in 1948 and enrolled in Kansas University. Bill completed his education and earned his law degree at Washburn Law School in 1953. After serving as staff Vice President for the Kansas Savings and Loan League from 1953 -1958 Bill embarked on a 26 year career with Peoples Savings and Loan Association of Marysville, Kansas, retiring as president and CEO in 1984. Anticipating retirement, Bill and Reva moved to Grove, Oklahoma to be with friends and family. Shortly after relocating, Bill was appointed Special Deputy Savings and Loan Commissioner for the state of Kansas from 1985-1989; Serving as director and/or officer in charge for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka and the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corp., retiring once more in 1990. Bill also served as former member of the Kansas House of representatives 1951-1954, serving as the youngest elected member to that date. He was a former board member of the Federal Home Loan Bank Topeka, former board member and chairman Kansas Savings and Loan Dept. and member Kansas Bar Association (60 years). He was also a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Topeka and a Shriner with the ISIS temple. Bill was an active volunteer at the Integris Grove Hospital in recent years. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Reva and daughter, Debbie Strange Vecchio. He is survived by his son, Stan Strange of Colby, Kansas, daughter, Sheri Beck of Spiro Oklahoma son-in-law, John Vecchio of Muskogee, Oklahoma, eighteen grand and great grandchildren and special friend, Joyce Hardnock. Memorials may be made in Bill's name to the Grace Presbyterian Church of Grove, Oklahoma. A service celebrating Bill's life will be 11:00 A.M Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Grace Presbyterian Church of Grove with a reception immediately following. Interment will be 3:00 PM in Shaw Cemetery in Erie, Kansas. Services are entrusted to Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.
