Bill Tanner

November 5, 1945 — August 5, 2010

Beloved husband, father and "Pa-pa", Billy Ray Tanner age sixty-four left us on August 5, 2010 after a very long and hard struggle with many illnesses. Born on November 5, 1945 in Maysville Arkansas to Grover and Hazel (Morgan) Tanner. Bill was a very caring man whom loved to hunt, fish, go camping, go to the creek to go crawdad gigging and just about anything that was to do with the outdoors. He also was a very avid Kansas City Chiefs fan through the good and the bad. Bill is survived by his wife Loneise Tanner and son Taylor of the home, Mother in law Gladys Black of Grove, daughters Paula Prins and husband Randy of Grove, Amanda Bice and husband Scott of Southwest City, Missouri, Angie Shepherd and husband Frankie of Grove. Grandchildren Kaylee and Emmalee Shepherd of Grove, Vanessa Hernandez of Southwest City, Todd Prins and wife Alisha of Grove and Missy Sumter and husband Joe of Grove, great-grandchildren Bentli Prins and Hagen Sumter. Sisters Linda Elbert, Irene Franks, Shirley Crittenden and Judy Campbell along with many nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances also survive. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Hazel Tanner, his first wife Joann Tanner, four brothers; Buddy, Grover, Clifford, and Ed Tanner, three Sisters Carol Tanner, Wilma Littledave and Helen Booth. Mr. Tanner was a very loving and caring man whom thought the world of his family, and enjoyed the time spent with the grandkids and great grandkids and loved them very much, and the feeling was obviously mutual. He loved all the "get togethers" especially when it came to all of the good food and good eating. It seemed that everywhere you would go someone knew Bill, there was always someone saying "hey Bill how ya doin?" and toward the end his reply would be "oh alright some days are better than others." He never complained just accepted what life handed him and made the best of it. Bill will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him but definitely not forgotten. Visitation for Bill will be on Sunday, August 8, 2010 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Butler Baptist Church with Reverend Lonnie Sanders and Reverend Chester Crittenden officiating. Interment will follow in the Zena Cemetery under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Casketbearers will be Frankie Shepherd, Scott Bice, Todd Prins, Randy Prins, Taylor Tanner and Joe Sumter. Friends and family may send online condolences to the family at www.honoringmemories.com.
