Vinita, OK - Billy Haskell Patrick, 71, died Tuesday morning, October 2, 2007 at the home of his sister, Patti. Billy was born October 13, 1935 at Cleora, Oklahoma to Haskell Patrick and Isabell (Cook) Patrick. He graduated from Cleora High School in 1954, a class of ten boys. Billy was the Salutatorian of the class. In 1958, he joined the United States Army and served active duty until 1960, then joined the National Guard's 45th infantry division and inactive duty until 1963, when he received his Honorable Discharge at the rank of Sergeant E-5. Bill was the manager of Lost Park on Grand Lake for Robert W. Langholz of Tulsa for over 15 years. He was President of the McLaughlin Cemetery Association for over 30 years. Bill served as Fire Chief of the Cleora Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years. He resigned as Chief, due to his health, but remained an active board member until his death. Survivors include a brother, James F. Patrick and his wife, Charolette of Jay, Oklahoma; one sister, Patti Patrick Schoech of Vinita; a niece, Charlene Leubecker and her husband, John of Virginia; nephews, James D. Patrick and his wife, Jan of Edmond, Oklahoma; Norbert C. Schoech and Bradley P. Schoech, both of Vinita; great-niece and nephews, Michael, Nicholas and Claira; special friends, Bill and Jo Ellen Brewster of Grand Lake; Michael, Amber, Tiffany, Junior, Ashlyn and Mary Schwartzlander of Adair, Oklahoma; and a host of other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Haskell in 1974 and his mother, Isabell in 2003. Bill will always be known for his wit and kindness, and for being a perfectionist to everyone. Most of the kids in the community called him, "Uncle Bill". A Celebration of Life Service and visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2007 at Luginbuel Funeral Home with Pastor Skip McLain officiating. A private committal will be held at a later date. Family suggests that those who wish donate to St. Francis Hospice of Vinita. Donations may be left with Luginbuel Funeral Home.
