Billy "B.J." Tarter, age 45, a resident of Bartlesville, died Friday June 15, 2007 at Marshall County Medical Center in Madill, Oklahoma. He was born May 5, 1962 in Ft. Scott, Kansas the son of James L. Tarter and Bonny Simhiser. The family moved to Pittsburg, KS where he was reared and received his formal education graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1980 and attended two years at Pittsburg State University. He served four years in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska. He and Mattie Weber were married May 5, 1989 in Miami, OK. They moved to Bartlesville in 1993 where he owned and operated Mr. T's Muffler Shop. He was a big hearted man that loved spending time with his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding scooters. Mr. Tarter is survived by his wife Mattie of the home, six children, Crystal Sharp of Copan, OK, Tanya Lin of Miami, OK, April Simmons, Tabetha Tarter, James Simmons and Brian Tarter all of Bartlesville, seven grandchildren, his father, James L. Tarter of Disney, OK, and three brothers, James Tarter of Pittsburg, KS, Terry Tarter of Ft. Scott, KS and Cecil Tarter of Dearing, KS. He was preceded in death by his mother and a daughter Adria Simmons. Funeral services for Mr. Tarter will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Neekamp -Luginbuel Funeral Home in Bartlesville with Cremation to follow the services.
