Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma 918-253-3222.Blanche Bishop, 95 resident of Jay, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 23, 2016 at Integris Grove Hospital surrounded by her family. Blanche was born on August 3, 1921 on Stanton Mountain located in Greenville County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of George Henry Stanton and Mary Magdalene (Ward) Stanton. Blanche moved from Western Oklahoma to the Jay area in 1937. Blanche was united in marriage to James Jewel Bishop in Pineville Missouri in 1940. She worked picking cotton, milking cows, raising her children and later as a laborer at O'Brien's chicken plant. She worked "Mother's Day Out" till she turned 80. Blanche was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jay, Oklahoma where she was very involved. She was also a member of the Garden Club, and the Homemakers Club. Blanche also enjoyed tending to her garden and canned her harvest. She would always win ribbons at the yearly county fair. But most of all, Blanche enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Blanche will be reunited with her husband Jewel Bishop, her sons James Donald Bishop, Raymond Bishop and Tony Bishop, two grandchildren Danny Bishop and Ronnie Bishop, her brothers Ed Stanton and Elmer Stanton and sister Ruth Bryant. Blanche leaves behind to miss her dearly her five children; sons, Jake Bishop and his wife Evelyn of Jay, OK, Kenneth Bishop and his wife Tracy of Jay, OK, John Bishop and his wife Bonnie of Eucha, OK, and daughters; Ann Spragins and her husband Ken of Grove, OK and Linda Beal and her husband Benny of Grove, OK. Blanche also leaves behind her brother Jr. Stanton of South Carolina and two sisters Juanita Jackson of South Carolina and Ludith Fincham of Ohio. Blanche was blessed with 27 grandchildren,, 33 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 PM, Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, October 28, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Jay. Blanche will be laid to rest in Duffield Cemetery.
