Bob Davenport, age 89 of Bernice, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at his home. Bob was born in Porum, Oklahoma on July 29, 1920, the son of Lewis and Jessie (Rosenbaum) Davenport. He graduated school from Sacred Heart Academy in Vinita. On February 13, 1942 he was united in marriage to Madge Edwards in Boise, Idaho. That same year, he enlisted in the Army, serving during World War II until 1945. Bob was active in founding the Bernice Baptist Church and later became a Deacon there. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, and drinking coffee with his buddies. Above all he loved and enjoyed his family and his favorite cat Putty Tom. Bob was also a member of the American Legion. Preceding Bob in death is his wife Madge Davenport, parents, brothers Echoles and Porter Davenport, grandson Robert Floyd, and great grandson Dustin Keith Davenport. Survivors include his six children: Mary Alice Floyd and husband Frank Floyd II of Bluejacket, Jane Sharon Apperson and husband Bob of Welch, JoAnne Wilkin and husband Stephen of Independence, KS, Denver Lewis Davenport and wife Cindy of Vinita, Leonard Dale Davenport of Springfield, MO, and Larry Keith Davenport and wife Mary Jane of Vinita, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nephew Roger Davenport of Oklahoma City, niece Pam Peters of Ft. Worth, TX, cousin Lou Sherrer, and his caretakers from St. Francis Hospice Mary Lou Birmingham, Beulah Griner, Cherita Barnett, and Lisa Sedevy. Visitation will be Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Bernice Baptist Church with pastors Butch Miller and Bill Busch officiating.
