Bonita Joyce Scarberry, 77 year old, Grove, Oklahoma, resident passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011, following an extended illness. Bonnie was born on February 9, 1934 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Theodore and Irene (Tutty) Kohler. Bonnie graduated from high school in Seneca, Missouri in 1951, and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the Independence Sanitarium of Nursing, in Independence, Missouri in 1953. She was a member of the Nursing Honor Society of Missouri. Bonnie married Nolan Scarberry on January 27, 1968 in Grove, Oklahoma. Bonnie worked for most of her life as a registered nurse; she worked at several area hospitals, including St. John's in Joplin Missouri where she was the chief clinical officer, Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, and worked at Integris Grove General for over thirty years, where she was the surgical manager, and given several awards including employee of the year. She was camp director for Quality for Kids and active in the Delware County Jail Ministries for the past 11 years. Bonnie retired in 1996 and devoted even more time to her faith, she was a Missionary Elder for her Church, Community of Christ, as well as a member of the Peacemakers Club and she and Nolan were district youth leaders for Oklahoma and Kansas. She was also an active member of several mission trips out of the country. Bonnie was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Crawford. Bonnie is survived by her husband Nolan, of the home, children, Tara Davis and Brad Bradley of Grove, Oklahoma, Kelle Kumar of San Fransisco, California, Sidra Burget, of Wylie Texas, and Kelly Scioncaux of Junction, Texas Bonnie is also survived by two siblings, Warren Kohler, and Donna King, both of Seneca, Missouri; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A memorial service for Bonnie will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 10, 2011, a visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011 both at the Community of Christ Church (430 E 21st street in Grove, behind the new Dollar General Store) in Grove, Oklahoma.
