Brandon Lee Hughes, age 22 Ketchum, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013. Brandon was born in Amarillo, TX on October 30, 1990. He attended Ketchum Schools, where he played football, and graduated in 2010. Brandon was known for many things one of which was his great sense of humor. In fact he was voted Class Clown his senior year. He had a way of making people smile. He was also known as being a great friend. He was very sociable, never met a stranger, and was very good at staying connected with his friends and family. He also enjoyed music and movies of all kinds, and was a member of the Langley Baptist Church. Brandon can also be described as an outdoorsman. He enjoyed jeeping, fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles, anything that kept him outdoors. He was adventurous, fearless, and lived for the moment. These were attributes he used in his military career. Brandon served as Private First Class in the United States Army Alpha Company 4th Battalion 159th Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division and was a 15 Tango, working as a Blackhawk mechanic. He earned the Air Assault Badge, Aviation Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army service ribbon. He will also be awarded the Good Conduct Medal and Army Accommodation Medal. Survivors include his parents Chris and Jamie Sutton of Ketchum, and Ralph Hughes of Canyon, TX siblings: Brittnie Joyner and husband Rick of Vinita, Justin Hughes of Ketchum, and Alainye Schumacher of Ketchum, grandparents: JoDee Woods of Amarillo, TX, Jim Bartlett of Bakersfield, CA, Dale and Shirley Orr of Amarillo, TX, great grandmother Fern Bartlett of Lincoln, NE, one niece Kylin Hughes with another niece on the way, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Ross and Elizabeth Sutton and great grandmother Irene Sailor. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. , Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Ketchum High School Gymnasium with Pastor Mike Earp officiating. Interment will follow at Carselowey Cemetery.
