Grove, OK - Brenda Quay Matsler, 59, died late Thursday night, November 2, 2006 at her home near Grove. Brenda was born July 9, 1947 at Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Charles A. Byers and Bonnie (Johnson) Byers. She married Howard Matsler on August 9, 1969 at Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Brenda worked in the healthcare profession for nearly 30 years. She was a registered nurse, receiving her education at Westark College. Brenda worked as an RN in Nursing Homes before joining the University of Oklahoma Medical Research staff. She also attained her Nursing Home Administrator's License and worked as an administrator for several years. Brenda retired in 1997. The Matslers moved to Grove four years ago, moving from Anadarko, Oklahoma. Brenda was a member of the Turkey Ford Assembly of God. She was a very caring person who strived for perfection in all she did. Brenda loved flowers; played piano at Turkey Ford Assembly of God and volunteered at the Christian Mission Thrift Store. Survivors are her husband, Howard, of the home; one daughter, Susan Bain and her husband, Tim of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sons, Jay Wilson and his wife, Debra of Broken Arrow and Howard Matsler, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 6, 2006 at Grove First Assembly of God with the pastors Don Law and Gerald Helms officiating. Interment will be at 4 p.m., Monday in the Drake Stand Cemetery, near Sallisaw, Oklahoma, under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove. Visitation will be Sunday, 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home, located at 711 South Main in Grove.
