GROVE- Bruce David Poindexter, age 61, died early Monday, March 17, 2008 in Joplin, Missouri. Bruce was born on August 30, 1946 to Marvin Sherman and Maxine (Burger) Poindexter in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Bruce proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Bruce was united in marriage on December 31, 1965 to Anna Kirby. . He owned and operated the Arrowhead Paving Company, he raised Cattle, was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, worked for the Narcissa Implement Company as General Manager, served 12 years as Delaware County Commissioner for District 1, and a total of 22 years for Delaware County, he also served as Hickory Grove's first Fire Chief. Survivors include his wife Ann Poindexter of the home and one son, David Poindexter of Grove, Oklahoma. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the Grove Civic Center with Pastor Lennie Martin officiating and speaker Rick Littlefield. Interment will follow at the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Hickory Grove Firefighters will serve as casket bearers. Memorial donations can be made in Bruce's name to the Hickory Grove Fire department.
