Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, (918) 256 - 5555 -------Bue Harm Lackey, Jr., 89 year old Disney resident formerly of Brawley, California, passed away at his home in Disney Thursday, May 7, 2015. Bue was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma on April 19, 1926 to his parents Bue Harm, Sr. and Bessie (Huff) Lackey. When Bue was around eighteen years old he left Cheyenne, Oklahoma in 1944 for Camp Fannin, Texas. He was assigned to the "Lucky 13th Training Regiment. During World War II Bue landed in Belgium and swears that he walked every mile from the port to the Rhine River behind ‘Pattons tanks' and not even one of the Tank Commanders offered them a ride!" During Bue's honorable service from September 13, 1944 to May 13, 1947 with Company "C" 7th Infantry Regiment, WWII he received numerous Campaign Ribbons; the American Theater Service Ribbon; WWII Victory Medal; Two Bronze Service Stars; the Combat Infantry Badge; and was awarded Private First Class. Bue was also a proud member of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. On June 10, 1955 Bue married Marlene Smith in Geuda Springs, Kansas and this coming June would have been 60 wonderful years of marriage. Bue and Marlene settled in Arkansas City, Kansas and were raising their young family until they moved to Brawley, California in the early 1970's where they lived until they retired in Disney, Oklahoma. He worked as a welder for many years where he did welding in the oil industry. Bue enjoyed fishing and hanging out with his coffee buddies, spending time with his family and he will be missed very much. Preceded in death by his parents; one brother Royce Lee Lackey; three sisters, Darlene Reynolds, LaQuita Cox; and Edna Mae Lackey; Bue is survived by his wife Marlene of the home; five sons, Sonny Walling and wife Trudy of Ohio; Van Reggie Smith and wife Kathy; Rick Lackey; Randy Lackey and wife Lordius; Richard Lackey and wife Martine all of California; two daughters, Ninette Rose and husband Stephen of Vinita; and Reva Pippin of Disney; two brothers, Wester Lackey of Texas; and Jody Lackey and wife Zelda of Florida; eighteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home in Langley. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home in Langley with interment following at the Timpson Chapel Cemetery in Vinita with Military Honors.
