Carl Hurt

Carl R. "Bob" Hurt, 84, of Grove, Oklahoma died Friday, May 2, 2008 at Integris Grove General Hospital. He was born October 15, 1923 at Pratt, Kansas to Noble Hurt and Ina Gooch Hurt. Bob served his country proudly as a U.S. Marine during WWII. He comes from a railroad family. He represents the third generation to work for the Rock Island Railroad. His job was originally that of section hand and after forty years of service, he retired as Vice-President and General Manager of the St. Louis Terminal Railroad Association. Bob has lived in Grove since 1968 and became a full time resident following his retirement in 1983. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois in 2004, one brother, and two sisters. Survivors include: sons Larry Hurt and wife Nancy, Gary Hurt and wife Charla, and Michael Hurt and wife Sue; grandchildren Christie Webb, Todd Hurt, Amy Buchanan, Casey Hurt, and Chris Davis; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Carl "Bob" Hurt will be held on Monday, May 5, 2008 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt, Kansas with military honors. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements.
