Carl E. Jordan, age 86 and resident of Clarkridge, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Clarkridge. Carl Edward Jordan was born August 17, 1931 in Ochelata, Oklahoma. He was the son of Donald Staten Jordan and Vivian Verda (Roe) Jordan Clements. He was raised in the Ochelata area where he received his early education. He was a graduate of the 1949 Sr. Class of Ochelata High School. Carl furthered his education by attending Bartlesville Business School on scholarship. He continued his college education throughout the years, completing his bachelor's degree in May of 1985 from Oklahoma State University, at the same time as his youngest daughter, Brenda Phillips. On May 5, 1951, Carl married Betty Jo Workmon in the United Methodist Church in Ochelata. They had been high school sweethearts. Three children were born to this union, Edward, Carla, and Brenda. Their first home was in Bartlesville, later moving to Kansas City, Kansas and then on to the Stillwater area. In 1998, they moved to Okay, Oklahoma. Betty preceded Carl in death in June of 2014. They were living in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma at that time. They had been married for 63+ years prior to her death. Shortly thereafter, Carl moved to Clarkridge, Arkansas to live with his daughter, Brenda. Carl was employed with Oklahoma State University as Supervisor of Student Data prior to his retirement. Over the years, he and Betty had been members of the Perkins Methodist Church and the Stillwater Methodist Church. Carl had many interests, some of which were canoeing, road trips, reading (especially Louis L'Amour books), country music, and watching his grandchildren practice and compete in sports and extracurricular activities. However, his family was what gave him the most enjoyment. He will be missed by not only family, but by many, many friends and acquaintances. He is survived by his children, Edward J. Jordan and his wife, Linda, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Carla J. Evans and her husband, Steve, of Paradise Hill, Oklahoma, and Brenda G. Phillips and her husband, David, of Clarkridge, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Niki and Shane Atherton of Alpine, California, Bethany and Denzal Zarinelli of Wichita, Kansas, Rebecca Evans of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Jenny and Brent Akin of Claremore, Oklahoma, Amy and Jeremiah Schnell of Denver, Colorado, Charlie, Alexander and Elisa Phillips of Clarkridge, Arkansas; and three great-grandchildren, Nevea, Brooke and Trinity Atherton of Alpine, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents; his wife, Betty; and three half brothers, Joe Jordan, Patrick Jordan, and Harry Horrocks. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Carl's name be made to the American Diabetes Association (1-800-342-2383, contributions are also accepted online), Hope Harbor Children's Home, 15025 E 380 Rd, Claremore, OK 74017 (contributions are also accepted online), or to the charity of choice.
