Carl Parker

March 9, 1925 — April 27, 2009

Carl Wayne Parker 84, of Nowata County went to be with his Lord on April 27, 2009. Carl was born on March 9, 1925 to David H. and Delta Mae (Russell) Parker in Nowata County close to Alluwe on the family farm. After graduation Carl joined the United States Navy. Carl married Crista Mcpheeters on March 16, 1948 in Chelsea, Oklahoma. Carl served on the USS Scurry, he was a minesweeper; he cleared Tokyo Bay so the Navy could land and deploy their troops. Carl served all over the Pacific during World War II. After his honorable discharge Carl became a Railroad Engineer; stationed out of Amarillo, Texas he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for forty years spending 30 of those years in Borger Texas. After his retirement from the railroad 22 years ago Carl moved back to his family farm in Nowata County. He was active in the First Baptist Church serving as a Deacon, and a Sunday School Director. He was very involved in the Alluwe Community participating in activities such as The Senior Citizens of Alluwe and Chelsea and helping the volunteer Fire Department of Alluwe. Carl enjoyed the outdoors and manicuring his lawn. He is survived by his wife Crista Parker of the home, two sons C.W. Parker and his wife Lois of Pampa, Texas, and Todd Parker and his wife Gwen of Clifton, Texas, five grandchildren Rachel Parker, Wayne Parker, Natalie Parker all of Pampa, Texas, David Parker and Gage Parker of Clifton, Texas, one sister Lora Faye and her husband Owen Moody of Kansas City, Missouri, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services for Mr. Parker are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009 in the First Baptist Church in Nowata with Pastor Todd Brock officiating. Final committal rites will be accorded Mr. Parker in the Chelsea Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the Parker family at www.honoringmemories.com Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Benjamin Funeral Home.
