Carl Pritchett

Carl Edward Pritchett, 70, of Nowata passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at his home. He was born on August 30, 1942 in Parthenon, Arkansas to Edith (Burge) and Owen H. Pritchett. Carl grew up in Arkansas, graduating from Deer High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving four years. While in the Navy, Carl met and married, Donna L. Colwell on May 17, 1963 at Hanford, California. The Pritchetts remained in California and after Carl's honorable discharge, moved to Topeka, Kansas, where he was airport manager for 15 years. The couple then moved to Owasso, Oklahoma and Carl became Director of Operations at Tulsa International Airport. Carl moved his family to rural Nowata in 1999 and had lived there since that time. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Phoenix. He was a member of the Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge, Imperial Valley, California. Carl was an avid Kansas Jayhawk basketball fan, who loved his family, farming and airplanes. He grew amazing gardens, that yielded some superb tomatoes. Carl is survived by his wife, Donna, of the home; two children, Rhonda Bauman and husband Steve of Topeka, OK, Vincent Pritchett and wife Kelly of Nowata; a sister, Shirley Golish and husband George of Castro Valley, CA; a brother, Harry Pritchett and wife Aline of Yucaipa, CA; a step-brother, Vernon Robinson of Kansas City, MO; two step-sisters, Esther Collette and Dorothy Savage both of Dover, AR; five grandchildren, Dillon Ward, Joshua Bauman, Skyler Ward, Jordan Bauman, Ryder Pritchett, and numerous nieces and nephews. Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Edith Pritchett, a step mother, Jewell (Robinson) Pritchett; siblings, Owen Pritchett, JR., Juanita Lesley, Deloris Whitehead, Teressa Kilgore, Loretta Sutton, Bessie Bell Pritchett and a step-brother, Billy Wayne Robinson. A graveside service for Carl will be held at a later date at Crossroads Cemetery in Deer, Arkansas. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
